The story

The silversmiths Jarosinski & Vaugoin are among the businesses in the 7th district you cannot see from the street. Through the gate, across the courtyard, then the workshop: anvils, hammers, moulds from 175 years. Cutlery in more than 200 patterns is made here, along with centrepieces, chalices, one-off pieces for embassies and private clients.

Jean-Paul Vaugoin runs the house in the sixth generation, and he is one of the few masters who truly open their doors. Listen and you learn why a spoon takes 40 steps, what a hammer stroke has to do with sound, and how a business survives when nobody inherits silver anymore.

Silver is honest. You see every mistake, and you see every hour that went into it.

What you experience

A workshop visit with Jean-Paul Vaugoin or one of his journeymen: raising, chasing, polishing on the piece in progress. Then the showroom. Ideal for the craft tour through Neubau, for corporate groups, and as the first episode of the podcast "Out and about with Martha".
