Carl Auböck returned to Vienna from the Bauhaus and turned his father’s brass workshop into a studio for things you like to hold: brass paperweights, corkscrews with horn handles, bowls, bottle openers, candle holders. Plain, warm, with the weight of real material.
The workshop on Bernardgasse is a place where nothing has been thrown away since 1912: moulds, models, sketches, all still there. Carl Auböck IV runs the business and opens it by appointment only, but then with time and stories about Viennese design that existed long before the word design.
