The craft of the candy maker had almost disappeared from Vienna. In the Herrengasse it is shown again, and in a way you can actually see: the sugar is kneaded on a marble slab, coloured, laid into a thick strand and then pulled until it is thin enough to cut into small pieces. Every sweet holds a picture or a word that only appears when it is cut.
It smells of raspberry and lemon, it is warm, and guests stand wide-eyed at the window, children and adults alike. A craft that needs no explanation, because you can smell it.
