The emperor did not do his own shopping. But he knew exactly where. The imperial and royal court purveyors were allowed to hang his coat of arms above their door, and some of them still do: Demel on the Kohlmarkt, Lobmeyr with the chandeliers for the Hofburg and the Met, Scheer with the bespoke shoes, Köchert with Empress Elisabeth’s diamond stars, the Schwarzes Kameel with the sandwiches people queue for. On this tour we walk from house to house, and the doors open: a look into the bakery, the last chamber, an order book from the 19th century. You learn what the privilege meant, who lost it, and why Vienna loves its traditional houses so much. With tasting, with time, with people who explain their craft themselves.
The route follows Kohlmarkt, Graben and Neuer Markt. Two to three houses open their doors for the group; which ones depends on the day of the week and availability. We agree this with you when you enquire.
A small tasting at Demel or a sandwich snack at the Schwarzes Kameel can be added as a building block. You choose it in your request.

For private tours our cancellation terms apply: up to 14 days before the tour we charge 20% of the price as a flat fee for organisation, from 14 to 7 days before 50%, after that or in case of a no-show the full amount. If your plans change, please let us know as early as possible and we will look for a solution together. You will find all details in our terms and conditions.
Yes, our tours take place in any weather. When it rains we adapt the programme wherever possible and gladly plan a break somewhere dry. In case of a storm we will contact you before the tour and agree together on how to proceed.
