The decade in which Vienna invented modernism: Otto Wagner and Adolf Loos in the streets, Klimt and Schiele in the museum, the Wiener Werkstätte at the MAK, and the opera, which Mahler ran for ten years. Then Freud on Berggasse, Schnitzler and Kraus in the coffeehouse, and the Ephrussi and Wittgenstein families, who made much of it possible. Art, design and music, with time to take it all in.
Our tours of Vienna around 1900 can be combined easily: the walking tour as an introduction, then the Leopold Museum or the Belvedere to see Klimt and Schiele in the original, the MAK for the Wiener Werkstätte, and the Vienna State Opera for Mahler. All tours are private, in German or English, from €270 per group.
